Happy Birthday Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks RightCivil rights advocate Rosa Parks was born 103 years ago today.

As Muzzled NB More sings, Rosa “led an army of 1000 marching feet.”

The link to Rosa will also connect you to Muzzled No More’s Out of the Shadow and Pay the Piper. I think all three of these are amazing.

It was over 60 years ago–on December 1, 1955–that Rosa Parks stood up for civil rights by sitting down on a bus.

Many of her quotes should be an inspiration to us:

“Why do you push us around?” (To police officer who arrested Rosa when she refused to surrender her bus seat to a white man.)

Some people said Rosa refused to stand up because she was tired. .
Rosa said:

The only thing I was tired of was giving up.

Rosa never let fear discourage her:

I have learned over the years that when one’s mind is made up, this diminishes fear. Knowing what must be done does away with fear.

Rosa also stressed the importance of not letting fear overcome fighting for what is right:

“You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.

So, let us be inspired by Rosa. We must not allow a foreign law to push us around. We must put aside fear because what we “are doing is right.” And, even though many of us are tired, we must not give up.

Happy Birthday Rosa. I will make a donation to ADCS for $103 in honour of your 103rd birthday.
